Stone Foundries use two distinct casting processes:
Post-casting processes
After casting the moulds are allowed to cool before separating the metal from the moulding medium. The castings are then cut off from the running system, which is recycled. At this point all castings are allocated a batch code. They are then cleaned, dressed (flash and ingates removed), inspected, heat treated, penetrant flaw detected, x-rayed if required (at this stage a P number is allocated to each casting), gauged if required/final inspection, metal treatments done if needed. Finally they go to correlation for certification, packing and despatch.
