Foundry business expands
January 2004
Stone Foundries has recently acquired a 50% interest in Creasey Castings Limited of Sittingbourne, Kent, who specialise in aluminium and magnesium castings for motor sport.
This acquisition follows the recent announcement by Rolls-Royce to close their own in-house aluminium and magnesium sand foundry at Derby and outsource their casting requirements, which is good news for Stone Foundries. Manufacturing capacity for high quality aerospace castings is at a premium in the UK and the Charlton foundry has decided to focus all its attention on securing the latest NADCAP aerospace accreditation to become a world class facility for the manufacture of aluminium and magnesium castings to the aerospace and defence industries.
Creasey Castings was started in 1991 by the Creasey family and has developed a successful business in the manufacture of motor sport castings. With the added support and experience of Stone Foundries it will become a unique facility offering a bespoke service to motor sport customers worldwide.
